Partial referencing and splitting of a building block

Building block call – Partial referencing:

To prevent an explosion of building blocks, the suxxesso Test Pilot allows “partial” use of building blocks through partial referencing.

  1. Edit the building block call via the “Edit step” button.
  2. Click the “Limit building block” button.
  3. Deactivate those steps that are not to be executed in this specific building block call (checkbox on the far left before the test case step).
  4. The currently selected steps are displayed in the “Summary”.
  5. Confirm the changes with the “Apply” button.
  6. The building block call, including parameter transfer, is split into the selected sections.
  7. The suxxesso Test Pilot recognizes which parameters are not required in the respective subcall. It removes these parameters from the assignment and marks the building block call with a note and a colored background.
  8. Edit the marked steps with the “Edit step” button.
  9. Confirm the automatic adjustment of the parameter assignment in the building block call with the “Apply” button.
  10. Carry out this confirmation for all affected building block calls.
  11. The building block calls including the corrected parameter assignment are displayed.

Building block call – Split:

In analogy to partial referencing, it is also possible to manually split a building block call in order to add additional steps.

  1. Edit the building block call via the “Edit step” button.
  2. Click the “Limit building block” button.
  3. Mark the place where the building block is to be separated using the “Separate building block call here” button.
  4. The manually separated steps of the building block will be displayed in the “Summary”.
  11. The building block calls incl. corrected parameter assignment are displayed.
  12. Now insert the relevant steps between the building block calls.
