Detect building blocks – Use existing test case as reference

  1. First detect the possible building blocks as specified under Other Functions / Detect building blocks.
  2. Select the test case whose steps are to be called (referenced) by the other test cases (button at the top right of the tile for the test case, button is displayed inversely after selection).
  3. Use the mouse to select all those test cases that are to call the steps of the reference test case as a building block.
    As soon as a test case is selected, the display is supplemented by the information, which variables are considered with the respective building block call. The building block analysis also performs an automatic partial referencing to the reference test case.
  4. You can undo the selection of a test case via the “Undo” button (button next to the information about the variables used).
  5. Go back to the view of the found matches via the “Overview” button.
  6. Your selection will be displayed:
    • The test case that was selected as reference
    • Those test cases that refer to the reference test case
  7. Start the building block replacement by clicking the “Create building blocks” button.
  8. As confirmation you get the information in which test cases a building block call (reference to the reference test case) was inserted.
