Detect building blocks – Create new building block

  1. First detect the possible building blocks as specified under Other Functions / Detect building blocks.
  2. Click on the “Create building block” button (to the right of the tiles).
  3. Select the test case whose steps are to be used as a template for the building block (button at the top right of the tile for the test case, button is displayed inversely after selection).
  4. Enter a name for the building block and adjust the variable names if necessary.
  5. Select by mouse click all those test cases in which the relevant steps are to be replaced by the building block.
    As soon as a test case is selected, the display is supplemented by the information which variables are considered with the respective building block call. The building block analysis also performs an automatic partial referencing to the building block.
  6. You can undo the selection of a test case via the “Undo” button (button next to the information about the variables used).
  7. Go back to the view of the matches found via the “Overview” button.
  8. Your selection will be displayed:
    • The new test case that will be created
    • Those test cases in which the new building block is called
  9. Start the building block replacement by clicking the “Create building blocks” button.
  10. As confirmation you get the information that the new building block has been created and in which test cases the building block call has been inserted.
